Young people from all over the Balkans joined the 3rd Regional Youth Forum hosted by LDA Kosovo
LDA Kosovo had the honor to organize the 3rd Regional Youth Forum within the project Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue. The Forum has been realized in Peja and Pristina, Kosovo.
On October 18th 2017, the 3rd Regional Youth Forum officially opened the doors to its participants. The first gathering took place at the municipality hall, where around 70 youngsters from Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro attended. A representation from the Municipality welcomed the young participants and the delegates from 7 LDAs located in the Balkans, as well as from ALDA Skopje. In the official opening session, the focus was put on youth local participation, with a special focus on youth activism in culture.
In the same day, the first public discussion took place at the ”Jusuf Gërvalla” movie theater in Peja. NGOs representatives and Faik Zekaj delegates from the local Directorate of Culture,Youth and Sports were present at this event. Among the others, delegates from two NGOs based in Peja joined the discussion: Vullnet Sanaja – Director of Anibar (an animated film festival) and Granit Gashi- Director of Into the Park (Music Festival and sustainability promoters). The event was a peer-to-peer exchange dialogue, focused on cultural participation of youth. At the end of this first productive day, participants had the chance to see some of the winner animated movies from the film festival of 2017.
The second day of the forum started at the Youth Centre of Peja. An interesting workshop entitled “Cultural participation in my local community” was organized for the participants of the Forum, for which the Youth Engagement Workers of each LDA took the role of facilitators and discussed the problems that can arise from youth participation in culture. Part of the workshop consisted of a field visit at cultural sites in Peja such as: The Patriarchate of Peja, the mill of Haxhi Zeka and the Old Pazar.
The day ended in Pristina, at the Termokiss community center where an interactive debate on cultural participation and activism took place. The guest speakers of the panel were Njomza Dragusha from Termokiss, Lulzim Hoti from organization 7 Arte and Sadri Shehu from the Kosovar Youth Council. Moreover Pavle Pavlovic, project's researcher, presented the key findings of his ongoing study on cultural activism and participation from youngsters in the Balkans.
This year part of the Forum hosted the EUROMED Training TOOL Fair. This is the first time that a Tool Fair, a well-known training concept among the youth in the Balkans, is organized in Pristina. During the Tool Fair, 12 youth workers from 7 Balkan LDAs held workshops on different topics in a parallel venue. Following the Tool Fair workshops, two of these Balkan Youth Workers will have the chance to join the international Tool Fair Event, which will be held in Bulgaria on November 2017.
On the 20th October the 3rd Balkan Youth Forum ended and this event considered as a better way to understand and respect cultural diversity.
