Balkan youth exploring and reporting about culture in each others’ municipalities
They say “good habits formed at youth make all the difference”. We can not think of better habits than traveling, socializing with people from other cultures and acting together for a better world. That’s exactly what youngsters from the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue got as a result of their engagement in the platform. From July to November, the youth correspondents in the platform were part of intercultural exchanges in the Balkan countries.
8 intercultural exchanges of youth correspondents were realized in the period of five months. Overall, 16 youth correspondents reported about culture in the 8 municipalities included in the project: Subotica, Mostar, Peja, Knjazevac, Skopje, Prijedor, Niksic and Zavidovici.
As a result of the activity, 8 video reportages were produced and promoted as part of the Regional Awareness Raising Campaign and 8 textual reportages will be published in a form of publication that will be distributed in the involved communities.
Before the exchanges, all youth correspondents attended trainings for communication techniques and video editing which enabled them to gain the skills needed for the production of the reportages. The topic of culture has been chosen in liaison with the theme of the third year of implementation of the Platform, which is cultural participation.
The Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue is coordinated by ALDA and implemented by 7 LDAs from the Western Balkans and ALDA Skopje and it’s financed by the European Union through the Civil Society Facility Operating Grants program to IPA CSO Association - Support to regional thematic associations.
