ALDA facing social barriers to integration in the CRISCO project framework

On the 5th March 2018, ALDA organized in Strasbourg a local meeting for CRISCO project on the theme of the cultural and social barriers to integration. The CRISCO project aims to foster citizens' participation in local life and cohesion between citizens in general. The local panel of stakeholders of Strasbourg met to discuss good practices on this topic and share difficulties encountered. The meeting focused on a comparison between German's and French's ways to manage these barriers and to welcome migrants and refugees.
Two speakers were invited to share their experience: Mr. Dieter Eckert, lawyer, ex-first deputy mayor of Offenburg, local counselor of the Ortenau Land, who introduced German's methods to overcome social and cultural barriers to migrants and refugees' integration, and Mr. David Robert, Chief Executive at SINGA France, an NGO dedicated to create bonds between refugees and their host society, by providing housing and organizing common activities with newcomers and locals. On the 14th of March, 4 persons from the local panel of stakeholders from Strasbourg will go to Bassano, Italy, for the first CRISCO's transnational event, to exchange about social barriers to integration, share experiences and good practices with the 10 European partner cities.
