ALDA's Secretary General presents her book on Decentralised Cooperation at the Committee of the Regions.
Last Tuesday 5th of February, in occasion of the Forum of Cities & Regions for Development Cooperation, hosted at the European Committee of the Regions, ALDA’s Secretary General, Ms Antonella Valmorbida, presented her last book as a side event to the main Forum.
The book, entitled “The European Decentralised Cooperation: Acting for development engaging local authorities and civil society” gives a significant and unique overview on the processes of decentralised cooperation and the ways it impacts and engages communities in the European Union and in the rest of the world. Also, Ms Valmorbida expresses her recommendations for the unlocking of the full potential of the decentralised cooperation.
The event took place in the Committee of the Regions Documentation Centre and featured numerous speakers who contributed with their backgrounds and experiences to animate a panel discussion around the themes of development cooperation. Amongst these, Ms Serena Foracchia, a long run practitioner in decentralised cooperation and currently Councillor at the Reggio Emilia (Italy) municipality, Ms Afef Zaddem, delegate of the Tunisian Local Democracy Agency and Mr Radouène Bouden, Mayor of Kairouan (Tunisia).
Many attendees took part in the event, both participants of the ongoing Forum and interested civil servants at the Committee.
