Decentralised cooperation between Normandy and Macedonia: partner meeting in Caen
On November 14th, the steering committee of the Decentralised cooperation between Normandy and North Macedonia project met in Caen (France) to reunite the Normandy partners of the cooperation and discuss the actions that were led during the year.
The current programme of the cooperation is organized around 4 axes:
- peace and reconciliation
- local governance
- Francophone exchanges and youth.
These are developed through a variety of actions such as seminars, trainings, lectures, the production of publications and documentary films, exhibitions, youth exchanges and internships. The diversity of the stake-holders involved contributes to the richness of the program, with a total of around 20 Macedonian and French partners including local authorities, associations, vocational high schools, and cultural centers.
At the steering committee, the partners agreed to implement a stronger communication of the activities to target audiences; and, following an exchange on the political situation in the two countries of cooperation, they encouraged one another to continue the positive influence on both territories through this Franco-Macedonian project.
The cooperation program between Normandy and North Macedonia began in 2007, and since 2016 it has been led by the French city of Colombelles. ALDA is coordinator of the program, while the association Horizons Solidaires provides animation on the territory of Normandy. The cooperation is financially supported by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
