SAINT-JAMES (FRANCE) WELCOMES A DELEGATION FROM KRUŠEVO (MACEDONIA)
In the framework of the decentralised cooperation between the Lower Normandy Region and Macedonia, Saint-James hosted a delegation from Kruševo from 21th to 25th of September 2012. The delegation, composed of the Mayor, the President of the Municipal Council and a municipal employee, visited several institutions in the city of Saint-James, such as: the multidisciplinary medical centre, the childcare centre, the waste disposal centre.
Furthermore, the delegation had the opportunity to discover the Saint-Macé fair, a traditionally organised event that offers a wide range of activities: Eco-village, fairground party, fairground exhibition…
During the visit, a Committee was organised that brought together the representatives different local authorities from the Lower Normandy that cooperate with Macedonia as well as NGOs partners in the cooperation in order to exchange views on the programme and to identify the potential links for territorial development projects.
This visit was organised after a first successful encounter between the two communities that took place in February 2012 in Macedonia.
Town twinning as a segment in the Decentralised cooperation between Lower Normandy and Macedonia builds up contacts and friendship with communities from the two territories and promotes better understanding. The Programme for Decentralised cooperation is coordinated by ALDA, the Association of Local Democracy Agencies.
