Tackling racism among youngsters through sport – International seminar of the project TOYS
The Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA), in cooperation with the Euro Mediterranean Scientific and Biomedical Institute (ISBEM) and the ASD Mesagne Volley, launch the international seminar of the project TOYS (TOlerance in Youth Sport), that will be held in Mesagne (Italy) from 12-19 January.
The project will bring together 46 trainers and representatives of youth organisations from nine different countries in wider Europe (Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Georgia, Italy, Kosovo and Moldova) and aims to promote the exchange of ideas and best practices on how to strengthen values such as inclusion and non-discrimination in the youth world through a key tool that speaks directly to young people: sports.
The exchange of good practices and ideas, with its center at the “Convento dei Cappuccini” of Mesagne, will also involve schools, associations, research institutes, committees, foundations and local institutions, so that they will be called upon to contribute and develop their own measures by enriching them as a result of the exchange with international actors.
The project will also be an important opportunity to showcase the tools that the European Union puts into place to foster the economic, social and professional growth of young people. Particular emphasis will be placed on the new programme Ersamus +, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport and the various opportunities that it offers in terms of studying and youth work through mobility.
The project TOYS is funded by the European programme Youth in Action.
