Larisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation and she is currently completing her MA in Local Development at Unipd; during her academic journey, she spent a year abroad studying Urbanistics at EKA
Arts Academy in Tallinn, Estonia. As part of her MA program, she conducted urban sociology research in
Tallinn’s local neighborhoods. Her research focused on developing a sense of community and tackling issues
of inequality and disabilities that were affecting the locals. This allowed her to learn the sociological
challenges facing urban communities today.
She attended the annual conflict resolution and prevention simulation at the UN Women’s Headquarters in
New York. The agenda was centered on exploring resolutions and prevention strategies related to women’s
health and equal opportunities. It was a great chance to network and learn from experts in the field.
As a SCU volunteer, with other job opportunities and her year abroad for field research, she has gained
experience working with various local NGOs. Her work involves developing, maintaining, and improving the
well-being and social integration of the local community. Additionally, she volunteered in Greece, working
with refugees in the field. Thanks to her extensive studies and immersive summer courses abroad, she has confidently mastered the English and Spanish languages and has a good command of the French language.
