ALDA is proud to share the news that our member, the city of Gdańsk was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award in the Concord category!

The Award is granted to individuals, entities or organizations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs. Notwithstanding the many outstanding candidacies in the Concord category, the jury decided on the city of Gdańsk, and we, as a constant supporter, are happy to see the city’s efforts justly rewarded.

As stated by the Mayor, Ms Aleksandra Dulkiewicz: “This proves that Gdansk is a very exceptional city – open, tolerant and free. Late Mayor of Gdansk – Mr Pawel Adamowicz used to call Gdansk “the City of Freedom and Solidarity”. Now we can add one more significant word: “the City of Freedom, Solidarity and Concord”. Mr Adamowicz would be very happy and proud to call Gdansk the City of Concord”.

By continuing its work of defending and advancing human rights, as well as promoting and protecting peace, freedom, solidarity, world heritage and, in general, the progress of humanity, the city is surely an example to follow.

Congratulations Gdańsk and may this be one of many well-deserved future awards!
