Pascal Goergen, who has been involved in local and regional affairs in Europe for almost 20 years, has a doctorate in political science and a background in German studies. He has a thorough knowledge of the realities of his country and is a fervent defender of democratic values, particularly at the regional, national, and European levels. He was for 10 years the diplomatic representative of the Brussels-Capital region to the European Union and then held the post of Secretary General of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) for almost 4 years.
Specialist in European lobbying and networking, he also created a European Federation linked to actors for growth in the European regions (Fedra) with a network of 117 young ambassadors in more than 100 European regions.
At the local level, he is deputy mayor of the municipality of Grez-Doiceau (Walloon region) where he is responsible, among other things, for citizen participation and international partnerships. At his initiative, in 2019 he made his municipality the first to join ALDA in the Walloon region.
