ALDA – The European Association for Local Democracy is dedicated to the promotion of good governance and citizen participation at the local level. ALDA in particular focuses on activities that facilitate cooperation between local authorities and civil society. Terms of Reference


ALDA+ is looking for a Project Manager to implement and manage ongoing and future projects in Italy. The candidate will work under the supervision of the Alda+ Srl Benefit Corporation CEO and the Grant & Strategy Coordinator in Italy; the candidate will liaise with all team colleagues across the thematic hubs and Regional Units, performing the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing the project action plan, organising events and other initiatives described in the program;
  • Following up and accompanying colleagues, experts and potential members involved in the project;
  • Communication and outreach: Develop and follow up on communication strategies for projects and drafting (with the support of the ALDA+ communication office);
  • Maintain contact and share knowledge about the project with the ALDA+ team and Alda Italia Aps;
  • Maintain contact with the donors, in collaboration with the supervisor;
  • Identify possible sources of co-funding and facilitation for project implementation, together with the CEO and the Project Development Coordinator in Italy;
  • Be responsible for the use of the program budget and carefully and responsively manage the allocated resources;
  • Support of the ALDA+ finance office, under the periodic supervision of the implementation unit manager; 
  • Be present at project events and other ALDA events, at the location of project activities; 
  • Maintain active liaison with Italian networks and ALDA members, together with the CEO and the Project Development Coordinator in Italy;
  • Support and contribute to office activities with colleagues and representative situation in a constructive and autonomous approach.

Candidate Requirements


  • Previous experience in project implementation of at least 2 years;
  • Proved experience on PCM and reporting;
  • Be familiar with EU funding programs and other private and public donors in Italy;
  • Knowledge of computer tools;
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proper work autonomy and proactive skills;
  • Experience in managing partnerships, networks, dealing with diverse institutions.

Candidate Qualifications


Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

  • University degree
  • Languages: English and Italian professional working proficiency.

Terms of Contract


The contract will be for a period of 12 months and can be renewed subject to satisfactory performance evaluation at the completion of the first contracted period. The contract will preferably start at the earliest convenience.


Salary will be based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. The proposed salary will follow ALDA’s staff regulation and will correspond to the following levels according to the experience of the candidate :
