Barcelona Provincial Council


The Barcelona Provincial Council is a local government institution that promotes the progress and well-being of the citizens of its territorial area: the province of Barcelona, 311 connected municipalities . This represents 24% of the total area of Catalonia and 74% of the total Catalan population (5.7 million people). It acts directly by providing services and, above all, in cooperation with city councils. It is an institution governed by mayors and councillors of the Barcelona city councils chosen indirectly, because its components, the deputies, are elected from among the mayors and councillors of the town councils, grouped by judicial parties.
