Founded in 1981 by civil society actors aware of international solidarity, the association is called “Lille Saint-Louis Partnership in Senegal” – Beginning of cooperation with Senegal. It emanates, at the outset, from a desire to bring to life the twinning between the cities of Lille and Saint-Louis of Senegal. It was involved in sending school and health materials and organizing youth work sites (1984). It also carries out awareness-raising and fundraising actions in the Nord-Pas de Calais region. With the dispatch of a first volunteer in 1986, the association implemented its first cooperation projects, responding to the needs defined by the Saint-Louis population: construction of schools, dispensaries, etc.
