ALDA Secretary General Antonella Valmorbida will be among the keynote speakers at the Webinar “Public Administration as a Green Leader” that will take place on 23 September 2021, via Facebook Live.

In light of the 2021 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report the focus of governance should shift in order to reflect the needs of citizens concerned about climate change and its consequences. One way to do this is to “turn public administration green”. But what does that mean? “Turning public administration green means formulating a vision to be shared with and by the population and upholding a commitment to sacrifice short-term (economic) interests to ensure long-term sustainability. "

The webinar will also showcase best practices to make office buildings more environmentally sustainable, minimise the impacts of meetings and events, promote sustainable commuting and business travel etc.

It will be moderated by the Head of the Department of Democracy and Governance, Dan Popescu, and the other speakers are: 

• Maja Marincek, Undersecretary, Public Procurement Directorate, Ministry of Public Administration, Slovenia;
• Marion Rumpl, Competence Centre for Sustainable Procurement at the Procurement Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Germany;
• Gerhard Weiner, Head of the Service Center of the Sustainable Public Procurement Action Plan in Austria

The city of Ravenna recently celebrated the 700^' anniversary of the death of the epic poet and father of the Italian Language, Dante Alighieri. With this major event passing by and in the occasion of the third transnational meeting, participants of the VALID project took the days of September 10-13 to visit the culturally monumental city and engage in various cultural exchanges and activities, alongside partners of the event presenting their own delegations of the project. Participants included representatives of partner municipalities, local authorities of Ravenna, youth and culture groups, NGOs, artists, and interested citizens.

Looking at the activities that those involved participated in, they had plenty of opportunities to exchange amongst one another experiences such as what their respective groups are involved in and do, and special attention was paid to the theatrical and artistic side of Ravenna. The delegations had the opportunity to hear about several initiatives that the Municipality of Ravenna supports.

I partner del progetto "Teatro delle Albe” theater group, which is a partner of the city, presented multiple performances done by the youth of Ravenna such as plays, and the final results of a Rap Lab. This all tied further into the topic of Dante and what he means to the people of Italy. The aim of the theater troupe is to promote the local culture and bring the people of Ravenna together, and they took the time to share how they have gone about that and helped further promote the local cultural abundance. Part of the program is delegated towards the inclusion of migrants through theater, in particular, a group from Senegal, and showing that despite our differences, we can all find a shared heritage to unite us.

The participants experienced the rich culture of Ravenna, and explored around the city, seeing the art, and major landmarks, many preserved for hundreds of years, such as the San Francesco Basilica. Functioning as both a library and a museum, the ancient site is a piece of history in the present and houses art related to Dante and the Divine Comedy.

As part of the celebration the Valid project partners took part in the traditional reading of the Devine Comedy in front of Dante’s tomb. Several event participants read part of the Divine Comedy to the Tomb in their respective languages, with the event being livestreamed. The spectators were able to hear the lines of the famous poem in Slovenian, Macedonian, Albanian, Bosnian and Italian. It is part of a daily happening in which anyone can sign up to read part of the Divine Comedy to the tomb, restarting on a yearly basis, as the city’s gift to Dante.

Now back at home, all delegations are organizing their own local paths and working with their communities after this event to identify various community art forms and facilitate their own dialogue and exchanges for phase 2 of this third transnational meeting.

Il VALID project is a bottom-up level project centered around building a strong network of towns to foster intercultural exchange and encourage intercultural dialogue and active local participation. It takes place across a period of around 2 years and involves the organization of several international events across multiple countries, this being one of the major stops. Ravenna is a very culturally rich city, and all the partners involved were able to experience that firsthand.

Qual è il modo migliore per imparare? Giocare, naturalmente!

Il progetto "Game to EMbrace INtercultural education" - GEM IN si basa su questo stimolo per promuovere l'educazione interculturale utilizzando approcci non formali e giocosi, migliorando l'acquisizione di competenze sociali e civiche ai giovani.

Lo scopo del progetto è quello di sostenere l'educazione interculturale a scuola e in ambienti giovanili non formali come veicolo per favorire l'inclusione sociale, il dialogo interculturale e la cittadinanza attiva, promuovendo i valori europei.

Allo stesso tempo, il progetto intende fornire input e raccomandazioni politiche per strategie di intervento per promuovere l'educazione interculturale e la cittadinanza attiva attraverso un quadro educativo innovativo.

Lo scopo del quadro educativo è quello di essere una guida per tutti gli insegnanti, gli educatori, i project manager e le persone che utilizzano il gioco come risorsa educativa grazie alla sua spiegazione completa di tutti i passi che sono stati fatti per creare il gioco e i suoi contenuti, tenendo a mente i valori e la metodologia promossa attraverso l'intero progetto GEM IN

Per esempio, durante la fase pilota del progetto a Cipro, i bambini hanno avuto l'opportunità di conoscere un'altra cultura e cosa significa l'inclusione attraverso il gioco sviluppato da GEM IN; e nemmeno la pandemia di covid-19 ha potuto fermare questa esperienza di apprendimento (giocando) quando gli studenti hanno potuto giocare e interagire con il gioco online, oltre a offrire feedback perspicaci e costruttivi.

Il Conference for the Future of Europe (CoFoE)  represents a crucial occasion for the European Parliament, Council of Europe and European Commission to listen and collect citizens’ ideas and opinions on the future of the European Union. 

ALDA is organising various activities within the conference, which you are warmly invited to join, but this webinar specifically is a chance to share with members new tools and opportunities to understand how you and your organisation/s can contribute ideas, clarify any doubts and answer every question.

E' con grande dolore e profonda tristezza che vi informiamo che il nostro collega, Victor Cotruta, responsabile dei progetti in Europa orientale con il nostro team a Chisinau, è morto ieri, 14 settembre.

Victor rimarrà nella nostra memoria come un grande collega, motivato e impegnato nel suo lavoro che ha sempre portato avanti con un raro entusiasmo. Ma Victor era una persona ancora migliore, di buon cuore, disponibile e un vero amico di molti di noi anche fuori dal lavoro.

Victor aveva un'esperienza di oltre 25 anni di lavoro nel campo della gestione e del coordinamento di progetti, con particolare attenzione all'ambiente, alla partecipazione e all'educazione.

Ha conseguito un dottorato in statistica ed è stato professore all'Accademia di Studi Economici della Moldavia, ma la sua passione era il terzo settore, così dal 2009, quando è stato lanciato il Partenariato Orientale (PO), è stato profondamente coinvolto in attività legate alla promozione dell'iniziativa, gestendo progetti attuati in Moldavia e in altri paesi partner del PO.

Prima di entrare nel team, era già un partner di ALDA, attraverso la sua organizzazione in Moldavia, lavorando insieme ad ALDA per la creazione del Forum della società civile per il partenariato orientale, dove Victor e Antonella Valmorbida, segretario generale di ALDA, erano membri del comitato direttivo per i primi anni.

Noi tutti abbiamo avuto la fortuna di lavorare con Victor e abbiamo avuto la possibilità di vedere che grande uomo era. Ci mancherà terribilmente.

Il nostro segretario generale parteciperà ai funerali a Chisinau con i nostri colleghi, domani.

In sua memoria, ALDA annuncia un giorno di lutto, lunedì 20 settembre, quando tutti gli uffici saranno chiusi per un tempo di riflessione nella nostra rete, con un momento di commemorazione. Ulteriori informazioni saranno inviate a tutti i colleghi, amici e partner.

"IlIt was an interesting trip and thank you very much for this project” – here is the comment of a young participant during the final conference of the project JOURNEY.

JOURNEY – Joint Organization to Unite Rural Networks of Entrepreneurialfinanziato dal programma Erasmus+, è stato realizzato da un consorzio di 8 organizzazioni di 5 paesi: Italia, Polonia, Ucraina, Georgia e Azerbaijan.

L'evento online è stato seguito da un gran numero di partecipanti e da diverse parti interessate, tra cui:

• Christelle Philips, responsabile del progetto EACEA - Agenzia esecutiva europea per l'istruzione e la cultura della Commissione europea,
• Petro Krainik, Ufficio nazionale Erasmus+ in Ucraina,
• Olha Oliinyk, coordinatore principale del progetto Journey e vice capo del segretariato, capo del centro per le comunicazioni, le relazioni esterne e il fundraising dell'associazione regionale di Vinnytsia degli enti di autogoverno locale

Durante i suoi due anni di attuazione, JOURNEY ha lavorato per ridurre la disoccupazione giovanile nei paesi del partenariato orientale, aumentando le competenze imprenditoriali dei giovani che vivono nelle zone rurali. In questo senso, gli esperti delle associazioni "Microfinanza e Sviluppo ONLUS" Matteo Solivo, "DYPALL Network" Mateusz Hoffmann, e "Sustainable development solutions" Silvia Bivol, hanno condiviso la loro esperienza e conoscenza nel campo dell'Erasmus per giovani imprenditori, il coinvolgimento dei giovani nell'imprenditoria rurale e le competenze dell'imprenditoria.

Le squadre di Georgia, Ucraina e Azerbaigian, sia i mentori che i tirocinanti, hanno espresso la loro esperienza positiva e hanno acquisito conoscenze e informazioni nell'ambito del programma.

Venendo alla realizzazione del progetto, , JOURNEY ha raggiunto con orgoglio tutti i risultati e gli obiettivi previsti::
- 21 mentori formati;
- 1 corso di 10 moduli in 4 lingue per giovani rurali;
- 9 formazioni online (27 ore) per 3 paesi target;
- la nuova piattaforma web VIAGGIO;
- 3 comitati di stakeholder per discutere i principali problemi dei giovani e i modi per sostenerli;
- 10 Club di Giovani Imprenditori (6 locali+1 Club centrale - in Ucraina, 2 - in Georgia e 1 - in Azerbaijan);
- 3 workshop di follow-up hanno riunito 90 giovani in Ucraina, Georgia e Azerbaigian (faccia a faccia!);
- 1 Scambio di giovani digitale

Le azioni per riformare il settore dei media in Kirghizistan Kirghizistan sono in corso, come mai prima d'ora... con Media Dialogue!

Da un lato, una campagna contro l'odio - #ChallengeHate - è stata lanciata il 6 settembre dalla Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) e dall'Institute of Civic Development. Una tale campagna arriva proprio durante la corsa alle elezioni parlamentari del paese... e non è questo il destino! Infatti, Media Dialogue vuole sfruttare il potere dei media nella salvaguardia di elezioni senza conflitti.

Per questo motivo, lo scorso mercoledì 8 settembre, Alexandru Coica, coordinatore regionale di ALDA per l'Europa orientale e l'Asia centrale ha tenuto una serie di visite di monitoraggio con i beneficiari delle sovvenzioni, al fine di stimolare un maggiore impatto a livello locale e nazionale.

These grantees have implemented projects in the field of media entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan and the actions implemented allowed to test alternative business development strategies in the media sector and thus demonstrate their efficiency.

Agli incontri hanno partecipato diverse organizzazioni, come "TV Academy", LLC "Tentek", LLC "Bakai Nur Mega" (Next TV), PF "New Media" (Temirov Live).

On September 17th 2021, ALDA is organising a special conference meeting to welcome the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2021.

The event will start at 12pm and will take place in hybrid form, with some participants and speakers in Novo Mesto and others connected online. Organised within the framework of the Week of Culture of Novo Mesto, the Conference will be launched by Antonella Valmorbida – Secretary General of ALDA and Steering Committee member of the Civil Society Convention on the Future of Europe. Ms Valmorbida will give participants a comprehensive overview of the significance and importance of the Conference as a unique opportunity for citizens from all over Europe to freely express opinions and suggestions that will shape European policies in the years to come.

Keeping in mind that in 2021 Slovenia is also celebrating 30 years of independence, the conference aims at offering an exchange platform for a fertile discussion on the recent history of the European Union, its past challenges and future perspectives, taking into consideration the key role of citizens in shaping the future of the Union.

The first project in the spotlight, the - DESIRE, funded by the Europe for Citizens programme, focuses on the importance of the Schumann Declaration for the constitution of the European Union;  follows the - PERCEPTIONS which is working to identifying and understanding the narratives and (mis)perceptions of the European Union in non-EU countries.  Finally, we will talk about DEVOTE, a project aiming to strengthen the integration of students with migrant background in schools, prevent early school leaving and improve their success in education by providing training, coaching and guidance to teachers.

Il 2^nd e il 3 Settembre^rdpresso l'Hotel Continental nella città di Skopje in Macedonia del Nord, si è tenuta la Fiera Regionale delle Best Practice, organizzata dal Balkan Network for Local Democracy. La natura dell'evento era un incontro ibrido, con partecipanti e presentatori sia di persona che attraverso la piattaforma zoom online. 30 partecipanti si sono uniti all'evento, insieme ai relatori. Questi ultimi, grazie agli interpreti, hanno potuto parlare le loro rispettive lingue, dando all'iniziativa una grande atmosfera internazionale

All'ordine del giorno c'erano presentazioni e discussioni su dati relativi a diverse questioni: autogoverno, partecipazione, CSO. Inoltre, vari studi di casi di pratiche di singole comunità nei 6 paesi dei Balcani occidentali (Albania, Bosnia ed Erzegovina, Kosovo*, Macedonia del Nord, Montenegro e Serbia) e tra 9 comunità su temi come la cittadinanza attiva, il processo decisionale. Inoltre, l'iniziativa complessiva è culminata in un'attività digitale in cui i partecipanti hanno votato attraverso i loro telefoni, mentre condividevano le loro idee attraverso l'applicazione Slido.

Inoltre, i risultati presentati dai ricercatori saranno utilizzati a livello nazionale e regionale come base per l'ulteriore sviluppo della società civile; così come la difesa degli interessi dei cittadini nei Balcani occidentali. Quindi, ottenere che i cittadini, specialmente i giovani, siano più coinvolti e informati sull'autogoverno locale è uno degli obiettivi di questa iniziativa. Molti esempi di mobilitazione e promozione dei valori della cittadinanza attiva, come:

• Youth podcast,
• Un'iniziativa per far tornare le elezioni locali nella città di Mostar,
• Video promozionali
• Diffusione della coscienza ambientale attraverso un opuscolo

erano tra i casi dei singoli comuni presentati. Nel complesso, questo evento ha mostrato che ci sono ancora modi da considerare, per quanto riguarda l'arricchimento della democrazia locale, ma i progressi sono stati fatti, come chiaramente dimostrato durante la Fiera. Quindi, molte buone pratiche sono state evidenziate, e molte altre sono ancora da fare.
