The School of Public Life is a grassroots civic education centre in Hungary that empowers individuals—particularly those from marginalised communities—to actively engage in democracy and advocate for social justice. Founded in 2014, it offers free training, strategic support, and resources on advocacy, organising, and civic participation. Rooted in the principles of critical pedagogy, the School uses adult education to make the knowledge and skills for grassroots organising accessible to all, especially those affected by or fighting against oppression. It supports civil society organisations and social movements to become more effective, encourages community-led electoral engagement, and provides tools—including Hungarian-language publications and an activist board game—to make democratic knowledge widely available. At its core, the School fosters a diverse community where critical thinking, democratic participation, and solidarity are central values.
