PARFAIT was designed to increase women’s participation at the local level by giving them the means to fully access the public sphere – as voters and candidates, but also as empowered, informed, and involved citizens. The project was conceived to guide these women to implement of the decentralization process a success for every citizen.
The project specifically was developed in six Tunisian governorates: Gasfa, Kairouan, Grand Tunis, Jendouba, Kebili, and Mahdia.
Ciljevi
• It increased the capacity building for 180 women (30 per governorate), trained to be actors of change within their local community;
- Supporting and coached women for running in local elections;
- Creating a political and media stage less hostile towards women;
- Increasing voter turnout in the targeted governorates;
- Improving women's participation in decision-making at the local level and better use by women of the local democracy tools;
- Implementing the local policies in taking into account the gender dimension
