The Romanian Municipalities Association (AMR), set up in 1990, is an NGO dedicated to Local Authorities support and representation. AMR includes 101 municipalities and the 6 districts of Bucharest Municipality and is a legal person of private right, without patrimonial aim and apolitical, established in view of promoting and protecting the common interests of the local public administration authorities. AMR aims to contribute to the achievement of real local self-determination, according to the principles stipulated in the Constitution of Romania and in the European Charter of Local Autonomy in view of solving the public needs in the citizens’ benefit and also for ensuring their participation in the decision process regarding the local communities.
