Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia

Description

In April 29, 1994 from the initiative of the Club of Mayors of the Slovak Republic in Košice took place constitutive Congress where Cities of Košice, Spišská Nová Ves, Kežmarok, Levoča, Starý Smokovec, Rajec, Banská Bystrica, Stará Ľubovňa, Nová Dubnica, Trenčianske Teplice, Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Pezinok established Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia (hereinafter Union or UTCS), voluntary interest association of Slovak cities. Membership of the Union consists of almost all large and medium-large cities, in total 78 – full members, 9 municipalities and 5 special members – municipal parts of Bratislava and Košice. In present time Union members represent approximately 2,5 million inhabitants.
