ALDA works in the European Union promoting active European citizenship, in tight cooperation with local authorities, civil society networks, and European institutions.
The activities of ALDA help raising citizens' understanding and sense of belonging to the European Union, and stimulate intercultural dialogue and civic participation.
By conducting its own and its members' projects, as well as through lobbying activities, ALDA fosters citizen participation and local democracy on four main pillars: citizenship, culture, education and volunteering; social issues; youth empowerment and employment; health and environment.
The European Association for Local Democracy is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the promotion of good governance and citizen participation at the local level. ALDA focuses on activities that facilitate cooperation between local authorities and civil society.
Established at the initiative of the Council of Europe's Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, since 1999 ALDA operates in the European Union and in its Neighborhood.

The conference “Collaborative public services: building and managing of public co-working spaces and co-housing” was the second international event organized in the framework of the project “RECOV: Rethinking Collaborative Values for public services”. The Municipality of Santorso hosted the event from the 16th to18th of January, where the participants had the opportunity to facilitate and promote an open discussion, based on practical experiences regarding the benefits of co-working, and co-housing spaces, important factors for urban development and social inclusion.
