(EU citizenship: Crossing perspectives)”.

ALDA at the Second International Seminar of the project TYEC

Within the framework of the TYEC project, ALDA contributed, as partner organisation, to the success of the second international Seminar on the “Promotion of self employment in Europe and the effective business development support for young people” held in Rome on 4 July.

The event brought together relevant stakeholders active on youth employment issues such as Confindustria, DIESIS Coop, Unione Italiana del Lavoro (UIL), ALDA, Pays-Vichy-Auvergne and Associazione Generale Cooperative Italiane (AGCI). The participation of the European Commission, represented by Mr Baldassarri from the DG Enterprise and Industry as well as of the Italian Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policies, represented by Ms Tomai, was key to define the European and national framework of the issue.

The seminar was structured in two different pillars. The presentation of DIESIS’ research on “Foster Self Employment and Entrepreneurship among young generations: European and National perspectives” was the basis for kicking-off the debate among the panellists. Particular attention was put on the need of promoting a major entrepreneurial attitude among students from primary schools to universities. Such educational policies have been adopted only recently and further efforts should be put into place. The panellists also agreed upon the need of institutionalising some tested measures and initiatives showcased by Confindustria.

Ms Estèle Rival from Pays-Vichy-Auvergne was identified by ALDA as keynote speaker of the second panel. She contributed to the success of the panel by presenting successful practices adopted in France at national, regional and local level. Mr Alessandro Manna, as AGCI representative, brought in the cooperatives’ perspective and highlighted the factors at the basis of cooperatives’ ability to not being affected by the current economic crisis.
