Forum Ukraine: Maintaining European Engagement Towards Ukraine – The Role of Local Authorities, Universities and Transnational Networks

Within the framework of the Season of Ukraine in France – “Le Voyage en Ukraine”, the Forum Ukraine aims to reaffirm and strengthen European engagement towards Ukraine, with a specific focus on the role of local and regional authorities, universities, and transnational networks.

Organised in Metz by the Région Grand Est together with academic and civil society partners, the Forum brings together institutional representatives, researchers, local authorities, civil society actors and international networks to reflect on how investment in human capital – including education, mental health, culture and knowledge – can contribute to Ukraine’s resilience, reconstruction and long-term European integration.

Discussions will address decentralised cooperation, territorial partnerships, academic collaboration and the contribution of European networks in supporting Ukraine beyond the emergency phase, towards structured and sustainable cooperation frameworks.

The Forum provides a unique space for dialogue between European and Ukrainian stakeholders on solidarity, reconstruction and the future of European cooperation with Ukraine.

ALDA will be represented by Antonella Valmorbida, Secretary General of ALDA, who will intervene during the first roundtable on decentralised cooperation with Ukraine. Her contribution will focus on the role of Local Democracy Agencies and transnational networks in maintaining long-term European engagement and strengthening local democratic resilience in Ukraine.
