International Seminar – Promoting Civic and Political Participation of People with Migrant Backgrounds

On 30 June 2026, stakeholders from across Europe will gather in Vicenza, Italy, for the international seminar “Promoting Civic and Political Participation of People with Migrant Backgrounds”.

According to Eurostat, almost 10% of people living in the European Union were born outside the EU. Despite their important contribution to European societies, many people with migrant backgrounds continue to face barriers to civic engagement and participation in decision-making processes.

The seminar will bring together NGOs, local authorities, activists, community leaders and citizens from 10 European countries to exchange experiences, share good practices and co-create solutions aimed at strengthening democratic participation and inclusion.

Through discussions and collaborative activities, participants will explore ways to remove barriers to participation, promote active citizenship and foster more inclusive democratic processes at local and European levels.

The event is free of charge and open to everyone interested in migration, participation and democratic engagement.
