ALDA at MedCat Days 2026: Strengthening Territorial Cooperation Beyond EU Borders

On 9 July 2026, ALDA will participate in MedCat Days 2026 – Regions Driving the Mediterranean Forward: From Pact to Impact, taking place in Barcelona, Spain. Organised by the Government of Catalonia and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), the event brings together European institutions, regional authorities, networks and civil society organisations to discuss the implementation of the Pact for the Mediterranean and the future of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.

Representing ALDA, Nataša Vučković, President of ALDA, will contribute to the policy exchange “Enhancing Territorial Diplomacy in Europe’s External Action”, which explores how regional and local actors can strengthen partnerships, democratic governance and resilience beyond the European Union.

During her intervention, she will present ALDA’s long-standing experience in supporting local democracy, territorial cooperation and decentralised partnerships across Europe and neighbouring regions. Drawing on examples from the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership countries, including Ukraine, and other cooperation areas, she will highlight how local authorities and civil society can jointly contribute to democratic resilience, inclusive governance and sustainable territorial development.

The session will also bring together representatives of European institutions, regional governments and international networks to exchange perspectives on strengthening territorial diplomacy as a key pillar of EU external action.
