On 7-8 July, ALDA officially launched the IDROK-UZ – Inclusive Disinformation Resilience and Open Knowledge project during the first Transnational Project Meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Representing ALDA, Secretary General Antonella Valmorbida and Central Asia Regional Coordinator Irakli Jgharkava met with the team of the Institute for Socio-Economic Initiatives (ISEI), ALDA’s local partner and co-applicant, to establish the project’s implementation framework and strengthen cooperation for the next three years.

The two-day meeting focused on project management, financial and monitoring systems, communication, security, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation roadmap for the first phase of the project. The discussions also confirmed shared working methods and coordination mechanisms, ensuring that the project will be implemented in line with international standards from the very beginning.

Funded by the European Union under the Support to Civil Society in Uzbekistan programme, IDROK-UZ aims to strengthen societal resilience to disinformation by promoting media and information literacy, critical thinking, digital safety, and open knowledge. Over the next three years, the project will establish five regional Media and Information Literacy Centres, implement a nationwide awareness campaign, facilitate dialogue between civil society and public institutions, organise an international study visit, and support local initiatives through a small grants scheme.

For ALDA, IDROK-UZ represents an important milestone in its growing engagement in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. The project reflects the strengthening partnership between the European Union and Uzbekistan and demonstrates the value of long-term cooperation in addressing emerging challenges in the information environment.

Building on its experience across Europe and the Eastern Neighbourhood, ALDA aims to share relevant European expertise and practical approaches with partners in Uzbekistan and across Central Asia. Through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and collaboration between civil society organisations and public institutions, the project seeks to contribute to stronger local capacities and more resilient communities.

The first partners’ meeting marked the official launch of the IDROK-UZ project and the beginning of a three-year collaboration between ALDA, ISEI, and their partners to strengthen media and information literacy, promote open knowledge, and enhance societal resilience to disinformation across Uzbekistan.
