Bergamo Meets Ukraine: Peacebuilding, Cooperation and European Opportunities

On 22 June 2026, stakeholders from local institutions, academia, civil society and European organisations will gather in Bergamo for the event “Bergamo Meets Ukraine: Peacebuilding, Cooperation and European Opportunities”.

The initiative will provide a space for dialogue on solidarity with Ukraine, local and international cooperation, and the opportunities offered by European partnerships in supporting democratic resilience, reconstruction and peacebuilding. The programme will bring together representatives of local authorities, universities, European institutions and civil society organisations to exchange experiences and discuss ongoing cooperation initiatives.

Particular attention will be devoted to testimonies and good practices emerging from cooperation between Italian and Ukrainian stakeholders, highlighting the role of local communities and municipalities in fostering solidarity, democratic participation and long-term partnerships.

Among the speakers, Antonella Valmorbida, Secretary General of ALDA, will contribute to the discussion on cooperation opportunities and local democracy, sharing ALDA’s experience in supporting Ukrainian communities and strengthening partnerships between local authorities across Europe.

The event is organised with the collaboration of local and European partners committed to promoting peace, cooperation and active citizenship.
