The project is designed to strengthen the national media environment by engaging media outlets in Kyrgyzstan, alongside public decision-makers and civil society, in a dialogue about the challenges facing the media sphere and by harnessing their potential in promoting media policy and legal framework reform in the sector.
What is the media situation in Kyrgyzstan? The country stands out as the most liberal state in Central Asia with recognised media freedoms, including on the Internet, and vibrant civil society.
This project will offer a series of grants to media organisations active in the Kyrgyzstan media space or to consortia led by media organisations who develop and deliver advocacy and public awareness campaigns through their content and/or physical or virtual events.
The overall purpose of the project is to strengthen the media environment in Kyrgyzstan, to support the provision of public service value content and high-quality journalism and to promote media policy reform. The main objectives being the promotion of freedom of expression, high-quality journalism, values content delivery, access to information, and all the constituents of a free and democratic media environment!
