From September 17 to 20, 2025, the European Dialogues in Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered key voices from civil society and youth activism to explore the role of trust in fostering lasting peace and social cohesion. One of the standout contributors was Maddalena Alberti, ALDA Governing Board member, who shared her insights on how trust can be restored in post-conflict societies. Emphasizing the power of community-driven initiatives and participatory governance, Maddalena highlighted the importance of local democracy in rebuilding citizens’ trust in institutions. Her reflections underscore the need for transparency, accountability, and youth engagement to create societies where trust is nurtured through everyday democratic experiences. The future of Europe, she argued, depends on citizens feeling truly involved in shaping their communities and their futures.
