Created in 2006 (BOE), The Fundación Ciudad de la Energía (CIUDEN) is a state-owned public sector foundation, attached to the Institute for a Just Transition (ITJ) of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). Fundación has among its objectives promote the energy transition towards decarbonisation, and to this end, it develops projects and initiatives that are structured through four areas: Energy Innovation and Research (R&D&I), Plant Training and Production, Museums, Heritage and Culture, and Just Transition and Demographic Challenge.
CIUDEN It seeks to implement R&D&I programs related to energy and the environment and contribute to the economic and social development of Just Transition regions. Fundación It represents a powerful tool for the implementation of pilot validation and demonstration projects, aimed at achieving the objectives of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), acting as a platform for the development of renewable energy and hydrogen storage technologies, promoting research, development and innovation initiatives in Just Transition zones, as a technological and socioeconomic lever for these areas.
