Description

The Local Development Association was established in Şanlıurfa, Türkiye. It is a non-governmental organisation whose mission is to reduce regional disparities and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of local communities. One of their flagship projects “One More Step Towards Democratic Participation” provided training to 410 young people from diverse regions on human rights, gender equality, critical thinking and active citizenship. They are the coordinating body of the Turkey and Western Balkans Cooperation Network, which brings together 35 associations from 7 countries to enhance civil society collaboration and policy advocacy, and manage also the Local Civil Society Organizations Cooperation Network in Turkey, connecting 50 associations to improve grassroot engagement in local decision making and disaster preparedness planning.
