Selfm.aid

Description

Selfm.aid is a grassroots non-profit organisation, founded in 2020 and registered in Switzerland and Greece, that empowers communities affected by humanitarian crises—particularly refugees—through sustainable, locally-driven solutions. Combining social work with craftsmanship, Selfm.aid promotes self-reliance by encouraging people to produce essential aid goods independently, using local resources. Key initiatives such as SKILLS FACTORY, One.For.One, and Phones Without Borders engage displaced individuals in meaningful, practical work that addresses immediate needs while restoring dignity and agency.

In response to global challenges such as forced displacement, climate change, and overconsumption, Selfm.aid seeks to reconnect communities with traditional knowledge, manual skills, and the value of local production. Their approach not only meets urgent needs but also fosters community cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and participatory democracy. By promoting local engagement and collaborative innovation, Selfm.aid aims to build resilient, self-sustaining communities capable of confronting today’s most pressing social and environmental issues.
