Circular Economy & Built Environments 2025

Circular Economy & Built Environments: From Vision to Implementation

From 11 to 12 September 2025, Tallinn will host the international conference “Circular Economy & Built Environments: From Vision to Implementation”, gathering public and private sector leaders to accelerate the transition towards circular, inclusive, and low-carbon cities.

Organised within the framework of the CiD – Circular Design Innovation Alliance, the conference explores how circular economy principles can be applied to reshape architecture, urban planning, and design, addressing one of the most pressing climate challenges of our time.

The built environment accounts for nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions (UN, 2020), from the construction, use, and demolition of buildings — and even more when factoring in related mobility and urban infrastructure. This event highlights the systemic innovation potential of this sector, showcasing:

  • Pioneering materials and bio-based solutions

  • New business models for carbon-neutral cities

  • Practical strategies for public authorities and private stakeholders

With contributions from leading European experts, local innovators, and multidisciplinary practitioners, the Circular Economy & Built Environments 2025 conference offers a dynamic programme of talks, case studies, and networking moments designed to inspire action and cooperation.

Hosted by Tallinn Business Incubator, the event will support the creation of more resilient, sustainable urban futures — one building at a time.
