EU Latin America decentralised cooperation conference

Conference of the Observatory of Decentralised Cooperation EU – Latin America and the Caribbean

On 8 May 2026, ALDA will take part in the Conference of the Observatory of Decentralised Cooperation EU – Latin America and the Caribbean, taking place in Barcelona, Spain.

ALDA’s participation follows an invitation from the Diputació de Barcelona (DIBA), which is organising the conference under the title “Decentralized cooperation in an uncertain and unequal world: new narratives or a return to roots.”

The event will bring together representatives from local and regional governments, international organisations, civil society and academia from both Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to reflect on the evolving role of decentralised cooperation.

Discussions will focus on how decentralised cooperation can adapt to changing global cooperation frameworks and continue contributing to the strengthening of public policies, democratic governance and international partnerships between territories.

The conference will provide a space for dialogue on the future of EU–LAC cooperation, highlighting innovative approaches and renewed narratives for territorial collaboration in a rapidly evolving international context.
