European Autumn University 2025 – Debating Europe’s Sovereignty in Belfort

From 6 to 9 November 2025, the European Autumn University will take place in Belfort, France, organised by the Mouvement Européen – France. The European Autumn University will gather citizens, experts, academics, and policymakers to debate Europe’s sovereignty, democratic resilience, and industrial competitiveness.

Set in Belfort — a symbolic territory of reindustrialisation and innovation — this new edition focuses on the EU’s capacity to respond to global challenges while preserving its democratic values and economic independence. Supported by volunteers and local partners, the four-day programme combines public debates, thematic workshops, and training sessions addressing the major issues shaping Europe’s future.

Highlights include:

• 6 November: Opening panel on European food security and agricultural sovereignty, with speakers including Irène Tolleret (former MEP) and Sylvain Marmier (Crédit Agricole).

• 7 November: Visits to the Citadel of Belfort and an evening conference on Europe’s industrial sovereignty, featuring Christophe Grudler, MEP and member of the ITRE Committee, and Sylvain Waserman, President of ADEME.

• 8 November: Workshops and training sessions on economic and democratic sovereignty, followed by a plenary with Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield on protecting the rule of law.

• Evening of 8 November: Closing debate on Europe’s digital sovereignty, featuring Sandro Gozi, MEP and Secretary-General of the European Democratic Party.

Organised with the financial support of the European Parliament, the event promotes open dialogue between citizens and European decision-makers.

Participation is open to the public, and several sessions are free of charge.
