The project was created as a response to the armed conflict that began in Ukraine in 2014 and caused mass displacement of individuals: only within the country, there were about 1.8 million officially registered internally displaced people (IDPs), of which approximately 1.1 are women and 700.000 are men.
The Dnipropetrovsk region, where the activities of the project were set, reportedly accepted approximately 86000 IDPs, an influx which was stretching the capacity of administrative and social services, communities, and local labour markets. The project was conceived to create a favourable environment for adaptation and integration of IDPs into the local communities, thus contributing to cohesion in society and stability in the Dnipropetrovsk region by minimizing the possibility of both conflicts’ onset and IDPs marginalization.
The overall objective of the project was to create an inclusive environment for the integration of IDPs into the local level while reducing their marginalization. Moreover, the project provided young IDPs with skills necessary to integrate into the hosting society environment and establish contact and cooperation with the young people living there while raising awareness and mobilize local actors for action.
