The project was designed to involve youth workers active in the field of health promotion and protection of the environment and to ensure that their views are heard at the European level. 40 young people, coming from diverse backgrounds, had the opportunity to interact, share knowledge and debate, on the topics of health and environment. This proposal was conceived in order to reduce the distance between citizens and the EU by improving young people’s knowledge and understanding of other cultures, thus allowing youngsters to establish a European network.
Under the project, mixed pairs of "sentinels" (obervateurs, alert and local stakeholders) were formed by each partner. These pairs gave young people, and others in their community, the opportunity to be active on issues related to health and the environment, and to make recommendations at the local, national, and European levels.
Its long-lasting goal? By experiencing a deeper and more meaningful sense of belonging to the European Union, participants gained the confidence to actively take part in the (local and European) democracy.
