ALDA delivered a CERV training workshop in Madrid to support civil society organisations in accessing EU funding and developing successful project proposals.

ALDA has welcomed six new members during its April 2026 Governing Board Meeting, further strengthening its international network and commitment to local democracy, inclusion, and participatory governance.

The ALDA Governing Board meeting in Strasbourg highlighted the organisation’s 2026 strategic direction, reinforcing its commitment to decentralisation, democratic resilience, and impactful local governance across Europe and beyond.

The project “Towards a Local Democracy Agency Belarus in Exile” explored pathways for democratic participation, emphasising the role of local governance and civic engagement in exile communities.

ALDA participated in the 30th anniversary of the CEI Executive Secretariat in Trieste, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, democratic governance, and cross-border partnerships across Central Europe.

On 4 February 2026, ALDA contributed to the EU Democracy Shield consultation, highlighting the importance of local democratic resilience, civil society empowerment, and community-based approaches to counter democratic pressures in Europe and its neighbourhood.

ALDA’s Secretary General, Antonella Valmorbida, took part in the International Conference on the New Democratic Pact for Europe in Strasbourg, contributing to high-level discussions on civic space, democratic resilience, and the vital role of civil society at local level. The event reaffirmed ALDA’s commitment to strengthening local democracy as a cornerstone of democratic renewal across Europe.
